Man Cave

With Father’s day only a few days away, we felt it fitting to write a post dedicated to the men of the house. It’s become quite a popular option to have a ‘Man Cave’ in the home, a place dedicated to Football, Gaming, Working, Music or even just spending some time to wind down in a space of your own. You often find that a man cave is full of fun features such as crazy gadgets, sports tables and games. It’s all about creating the right atmosphere, enabling you to relax and have fun, so here’s a few tips on how you can design the perfect man cave.

Start with a theme

The best place to start when designing your man cave is to choose a theme that suits you best. One of the most popular themes for man caves are the traditional, cabin style, earthy designs that incorporate lots of browns, reds and greens to create a warm, cosy feel. Other styles such as comic themes, modern designs or even black and white themes can be found to be very popular. Once you know the theme you wish to stick to, you can start to design the room to work best for you.

Choose some comfy furniture

Your aim is to be as comfortable in your man cave as possible, so deciding on the right kind of furniture is key. Invest in a large, cosy sofa that will fit your whole family, in case you decide to have a film marathon or move night in your man cave. You then need to think about practicality, placing an Oak Coffee Table would be a great idea for having somewhere to place your food or drink whilst watching the TV or playing on your games console. Keep your furniture the same, try to stick to a particular range or style, this way the room will tie together really well and still look inviting and cosy. Items such as Beanbags and Throws are also a very good choice, adding to the comfort of the room and making it at cosy and warm as possible.

Don’t forget the essentials

A man cave is a place to relax and have fun, therefore features such as a Television and gaming source such as a PlayStation, Xbox or Wii are vital pieces to include. Having these in your man cave will enable you to retire to watch a football match, play some GTA or even simply listen to your favourite music whilst reading the newspaper. Either way, it’s a space for you to do your own thing and not interrupt the rest of the household. Other features such as a Football or Ping Pong table are really popular in man cave designs, as these again add fun and excitement to the room. If you’re planning on spending the duration of a football match in your man cave, you may want to include something like a Mini-Fridge to keep Beers, Soft Drinks and Water cool and fresh, saving you a trip to the kitchen at half time. Another good touch to a man cave is a place to display items such as photographs, trophies and medals. Having this kind of area will keep the personal touch to your room, and enable you to show off your prized possessions!

Now you can kick back, relax and enjoy being in a room dedicated to you!
